Celtic legend Scott Brown has stepped into the management arena since retiring from a trophy-laden playing career.
Following a spell as boss of Fleetwood Town, Brown is now in the hot seat at Ayr United, who sit sixth in the Scottish Championship table with three matches left to play this season.
Of course, many have spoken about the former Scotland international potentially being in the frame to take over at Celtic one day, a question which he has addressed in a recent interview.
He stated: “Everyone says that. I think for me, I need to just worry about myself. At Celtic what I have done and how I’ve played that’s all in the past. You don’t become the manager just because you played at Celtic. You’ve not got the right to manage Celtic. You have to go and earn it.”
With 611 appearances, 46 goals, 63 assists, and 22 trophies to his name at Celtic, there is a suspicion that he may return to the club in some capacity later down the line, though it is clear Brown holds a major amount of respect for the managerial position at Parkhead [Transfermarkt].
On May 26th, Brown will make a comeback in our charity Legends match against Borussia Dortmund. On the day, funds raised will be distributed to various locations tackling the cost-of-living crisis around the UK and Ireland via food provision.

Brown and Brendan Rodgers share a special relationship, as both worked together during the Irishman’s first spell in charge at Parkhead to deliver all-conquering success to an adoring Celtic support.
Speaking to the Scottish Football Podcast, our former captain has revealed Rodgers helped him out during a goalkeeping crisis at the Honest Men, playing his part in sanctioning a loan deal for B team star Josh Clarke to head to Somerset Park, who he has described as an ‘exceptional’ talent.

He stated: “He helped us with Josh (Clarke) coming in. The goalie has come in for the last three or four games there. He has been exceptional.
“We got an injury and we got an emergency loan in. Celtic helped us out. For that, I am lucky enough to pick up the phone to Celtic and to ask for help now and again.”
It is brilliant to see that the pair are still in contact, and this may pave the way for further business down the line as Celtic look to farm out their youngsters for experience elsewhere.
There is a sense of inevitability around Brown one day coming back to Parkhead, though he will need to earn his stripes elsewhere before any notion of a return becomes a serious possibility.
