Sam Amadi, the Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, has outlined conditions under which he believes President Bola Tinubu should be removed from office.
Amadi stated that President Bola Tinubu should be ousted if he did not win the last presidential election through a fair process. He expressed disagreement with those who argue that presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) should withdraw their cases against Tinubu at the presidential election tribunal.
Taking to Twitter, the public affairs analyst criticized the notion that aggrieved individuals should drop their legal challenges to ensure the success of Tinubu’s administration. He referred to it as foolish and questioned the tendency to search for superficial heroes.
Amadi drew attention to the 1960s when African intellectuals advocated for a one-party state in the pursuit of national development. However, he pointed out that this approach failed to deliver either democracy or development.
Highlighting that President Bola Tinubu is not the first person to assume the presidency, Amadi emphasized the importance of ensuring the fairness and integrity of the 2023 elections. If Tinubu did not win legitimately, Amadi believes it is crucial to remove him from office in the interest of national development.
