A tragic road accident occurred at Shadarki village along Bauchi-Darazo Road in Bauchi State, resulting in the loss of eight lives and leaving six others injured.
According to reports, the accident took place on Wednesday and involved a private Hilux van and a Gulf-3 model taxi car.
Yusuf Abdullahi, the Bauchi Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed the incident. He stated that the fatalities included two adult males, three adult females, two male children, and one female child.
The injured victims were swiftly transported to Darazo General Hospital for immediate medical attention. Abdullahi further explained that some of the injured individuals suffered fractures, bruises, and head injuries.
Abdullahi attributed the cause of the accident to reckless overtaking and urged motorists to consistently abide by traffic rules and exercise caution while driving.
