A 42-year-old Qur’anic teacher named Suleiman Araromi was brought before the Ogudu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State on Thursday. He was charged with engaging in sexual intercourse with a woman and defrauding her of N536,000.

Araromi, who resides on Balogun Ilawe Street, Alapere, Lagos, is facing three counts of theft, fraud, and engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with the woman.

According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Donjour Perezi, the defendant committed these offenses in February at Mile 12, Lagos. Perez explained that Araromi convinced the woman, who sold medicinal herbs, to pay him N536,000 in order for him to pray for her and make her blessings manifest. The defendant then fraudulently obtained the N536,000 through his bank account in multiple installments paid by the woman.
