The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has learned that the (Couple) husband and wife who were purportedly kidnapped on the Iragbiji-Osogbo Road in the early hours of Saturday in Osun while returning from a vigil have escaped from their captors.
Brig.-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi, Osun State Amotekun Commander, claims that at around 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, corps members saw the wife leaving the Kelebe forest area and running toward the Iragbiji-Osogbo Road.
The woman was escorted to the Amotekun Command, according to Adewinmbi, where she identified herself as Margret Jonah, the woman who was abducted on Saturday along with her husband.
According to him, the woman claimed that they were from Iragbiji and were on their way back from Osogbo, where they had gone for a church service before coming across the kidnappers’ ambush.
She claimed that when the police closed in, the kidnappers retreated, giving her and her husband the chance to flee, but in different directions.
Adewinmbi claimed that they called the victim’s relatives to inform them of the woman’s rescue and transfer to the Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
Adewinmbi stated that the husband was fine and that they had been freed from the forest with the help of the police anti-kidnapping team.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the man and lady were riding their motorcycle back from a church vigil when they were kidnapped by alleged kidnappers early on Saturday morning on the Osogbo-Iragbiji route.
